Description
The concept that the two-particle correlation among produced pions in high-energy collisions is long-ranged is advanced. The space-time properties of the hadronic fluid before breakup are stressed. By examining the Lehmann representation of the correlation function, it is shown that the spectral function must have a singularity at m = 0, corresponding to a zero-mass excitation. The correlation length in rapidity is related to the nature of that singularity
