Electric quark confinement in 2+1 dimensions
Description
Taking the SU(N) Georgi-Glashow model in 2+1 dimensions, electric quark confinement is demonstrated in the hamiltonian formalism. This is done by deriving a dual lagrangian which determines the vacuum structure in the strong coupling regime. It is shown that the Zsub(N) symmetry is dynamically broken, that the vacuum is a condensed phase of magnetic vortices, and that quarks are confined permanently by the quantized electric flux stretching between them.
