Description
A comparative evaluation of the results of esophageal cancer treatment by 3 methods: surgery, combined therapy and radiotherapy are given. Survival rates after γ therapy depending on irradiation procedures are presented. According to the 5-year follow-up results, a split course of dose fractionation seems the most promising one. Regardless of γ therapy techniques, either static or moving, 5-year survival rates exceeded 11%. Three-year survival rates after a split course by the moving technique are close to those obtained after combined therapy (30.5%) that an interruption during a course of γ-therapy produces a positive effect not only on local strengthening of reparative processes but also on the general condition of the body, which, in its turn, stimulates reparative processes
