Description
Purpose: To provide a nuclear reactor power conditioning device suitable to be installed in a narrow space capable of reducing the time delay from the occurrence of reactor accident to the insertion of control rods. Constitution: A protection tube containing neutron absorbers is positioned to the midway of a member connecting with a control rod drive mechanism and bellows predetermined with upper and lower limits for the extension and contraction are interposed and gases are sealed within the space. Temperature rise in the reactor due to occurrence of reactor accident is directly sensed and the control rod is instantly inserted into the reactor core. Since the radial size of the device needs not to be enlarged for ensuring the required insertion stroke of control rod, it is suitable to be disposed in a narrow space where a plurality of control rods are present. When the bellows are extended, the contacts are closed to actuate a scram sensor and informs the operator of the occurrence of accident. In this way, a reactor power conditioning device excellent in performance with less time delay, and easy to manufacture can be obtained. (Kamimura, M.)
