Description

The quality mammographic image must have optimal contrast and resolution. The major factors contributing to image contrast and resolution are dedicated mammographic equipment, film density, breast compression, focal spot, grid, film screen combination and processing. These seven factors need to be manipulated so that optimal film quality is achieved with an acceptable radiation exposure. 8 refs., 13 figs., 3 tabs
