Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, the 'green lung' of Europe

This paper first outlines that the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region is the first French region of low-carbon electric power production (14 nuclear reactors, hydroelectric installations), provides the fourth of French electric power needs, produces twice more than it consumes, and therefore provides electricity to other French regions and even other countries. It also evokes the presence of several nuclear engineering departments and companies. Then, it proposes an overview of the different activities of the Tricastin nuclear hub, presents the Grenoble region as an industrial and research pole in the field of energy and more particularly in the nuclear field with the presence of specialised companies, engineering schools, and research centres
