Handy impedance formulae, incoherent synchrotron frequency, and head-tail tune shift in PEP
Description
A simple relation for the higher order mode losses in PEP is derived from computations and in-situ measurements. The self induced wake potential causes a difference between the single particle synchrotron frequency and the measurable coherent dipole frequency. At the operating energy and current the difference is found to be on the order of 500 Hz. From transverse wakefield computations the tune shift of the fundamental head-tail mode is calculated. The accelerating cavities cause a betatron tune shift of about δ#betta# = -0.001/mA in each plane
