Thermo-mechanical study of rapidly solidified amorphous PdTiZrCuSn alloys

Description

The thermal stability and viscosity (nonequilibrium and quasi-equilibrium viscosity around Tg) of Pd14Ti40Zr10Cu36-xSnx alloys using tensile tests equipment are studied. The viscosity experimental results are interpreted based on the free volume model (FVM). The obtained values of the model parameters are used for estimation of the glass forming ability (GFA) in terms of Angell parameter. The lowest value of Angell's parameter mA (highest GFA) possesses alloy Pd14Ti40Zr10Cu33Sn3.Keywords: glassy metals, viscosity, glass forming ability
