Measurement and dose assessment due to use of fly ash bricks and granite in construction materials
- 1. Environmental Assessment Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Full text: The paper gives the levels of natural radioactivity in fly ash brick samples and granite samples used as construction material of dwellings. Also, external dose rate at 1m height from the floor at the centre of the room of 5m x 4m x 2.8m has been evaluated. The external gamma dose rate due to usage of fly ash bricks in walls and granite for flooring is compared with dose rate calculated using walls of clay bricks and mosaic/Cuddapah tiles for flooring. It has been observed that the usage of fly ash bricks and granite tiles results in increase in the dose rate almost twice as that with respect to the usage of clay bricks and mosaic/Cuddaph tiles, except for clay bricks from Hyderabad
