Effect of ligand nature on sorption of metal complex ions by active carbons

Description

It is shown that activated carbons sorb negative complex metal ions, in which SCN-, Cl-, Br-, and I- are ligands and which are practically not absorbed from fluoride, sulphate and phosphate solutions. An assumption has been made that a donor-acceptor bond with a participation of π-electrons is formed between the ligand of the negatively charged metal complex, being sorbed by the carbon, and carbonium ion
