Quantum equivalence of different field representations
Description
We show that classically equivalent field representations remain equivalent at the quantum level in spite of their different global trace anomalies because these anomalies are not physical observables. This is demonstrated by analyzing quantum calculations for some simple examples of such representations in non-background-field gauges. Furthermore, the local trace anomalies are found to be gauge dependent. (orig.)
