Critical experiment on the observation of surface Λ-hypernuclear states
Description
As an independent experimental criterion of observation of the surface Λ-hypernuclear states (SHS) in heavy and medium nuclei we propose to measure the probability of their pionic decays. We show that in the case of an SHS the decay probability increases, in comparison with a volume state, by an order of magnitude for A∼90 and by almost two orders of magnitude for A∼200
