therapy with strontium-89 for metastatic bone pain of prostate cancer
Description
In more than 30% of cases, prostate cancer is in bone metastatic stage when it is detected. The therapy pain, main symptom of these metastases, gets a large part in taking charge of this illness. Several palliative and adjuvant therapy means have been tried to relieve this pain. Hormonotherapy constituted a referring therapy for about forty years. After hormone resistance finding, local and hemi-corporal therapy were used to relieve the pain. The metabolic radiotherapy using radiopharmaceuticals with bone tropism is the recent therapeutic modality. Metastron advent (strontium chloride) is a great advance in controlling metastatic bone pain of prostate cancer. Our study aims: - to develop this new therapy; - to define its position in our social economical context; - to evaluate the possibility of its introduction and its using in Morocco. (author)
