Manufacture of thick stainless steel sheets for internal structure of WWER 440 reactor

  • 1. Vitkovicke Zelezarny Klementa Gottwalda, Ostrava (Czechoslovakia)

Description

The manufacture was studied of thick metal sheets for the internal structure of a reactor. The material was steel 08Kh18N10T. From the results obtained, the optimum conditions were chosen for heat treatment of sheets of 40 to 150 mm in thickness. The heat treatment consisted of dissolution annealing; in case mechanical properties were unsatisfactory (this mainly applies to values at 325 degC), stabilisation annealing was inserted. The mechanical properties attained in the rolled pieces were satisfactory and met the requirements of specifications. (J.B.)
