Study on laser beam-forming. 5. Prototype device for controling laser beam intensity profile by deformable mirror
- 1. Central Research Inst. of Electric Power Industry, Komae, Tokyo (Japan). Komae Research Lab.
Description
The deformable control device which can transform laser beam intensity profiles is developed. This is the first device which can control beam profiles. Genetic algorithm (GA) is adopted as a control algorithm. Although the transfer function is complex and unknown, the device can obtain the optimum beam profile within a limit of the hardware. Thus, the effectiveness of GA is proved. The most significant problem is the unstability of monitoring and evaluation of laser beam intensity profiles. The evaluation values vary with time. It may results in the unstability of the CCD camera. The control characteristics such as reproducibility will be improved if this unstability is reduced. (author)
