Digital simulation of transients in sodium-sodium intermediary heat exchanger

Description

The digital simulation of sodium-sodium heat exchangers considering uniform spatial flow and single tube model is presented. The discrete temperature field in the primary and secondary fluids and in the tube shell walls are obtained from the numerical integration of the energy and heat flow equations which are coupled by the heat transfer equation. A series of tests was performed in order to determine the precision of results and the program's efficiency. Data from the EBRII reactor to simulate the heat exchanger in the steady and transient states were used. The results show that the model satisfies the transient spectrum proposed. (F.E.)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Neste trabalho, a simulacao digital de trocadores de calor sodio-sodio, considera-se a vazao espacialmente uniforme e adota-se o modelo do tubo unico. O campo discreto de temperaturas nos fluidos primario e secundario e nas paredes do tubo e da casca e obtida a partir da integracao numerica das equacoes da energia e conducao de calor, onde estas duas equacoes sao acopladas pela equacao de transferencia de calor. Uma serie de testes foram realizados para observar a precisao nos resultados e a eficiencia do programa elaborado. Os dados de projeto do reator EBRII (Experimental Breeder Reactor II) sao utilizados para simular o trocador de calor nos estados estacionario e transitorio, onde a partir de seus resultados verifica-se que o modelo satisfaz o espectro de transientes propostos.
