Argentina's radioactive waste disposal policy

Description

The Argentina policy for radioactive waste disposal from nuclear facilities is presented. The radioactive wastes are treated and disposed in confinement systems which ensure the isolation of the radionucles for an appropriate period. The safety criteria adopted by Argentina Authorities in case of the release of radioactive materials under normal conditions and in case of accidents are analysed. (M.C.K.)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Apresenta-se a politica argentina para a disposicao dos rejeitos radioativos provenientes de instalacoes nucleares. Os rejeitos radioativos sao tratados e dispostos em sistemas de contencao que asseguram o isolamento dos radionuclideos por um periodo adequado. Analisam-se os criterios de seguranca adotados pelas autoridades argentinas no caso de liberacao do material radioativo sob condicoes normais e em caso de acidentes. (M.C.K.)
