Magnetic spectrometer GIBS

  • 1. Laboratory of High Energies, Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna (Russian Federation)

Description

The GIBS spectrometer is an experimental set-up with a 2 m streamer chamber placed in magnetic field as the main detector which provides a possibility to register charged particles emitted from an inner target into the complete solid angle (4π geometry). The set-up is used for investigations of rare processes of a wide diapason of secondary particle multiplicities. In the paper a brief description of the GIBS spectrometer of the Laboratory of High Energies of JINR, its characteristics and methodical results concerning quality of obtained experimental data with references to the papers in which some parts of the spectrometer are described in detail are presented.
