Thermophysical peculiarities of the selfquenching pulse reactor
Description
Heterogeneous self-quenching pulse reactor is proposed to carry out experiments on thermal neutrons. In order to decrease the life-time of neutrons in the core (and, therefore, decrease of width and increase of the pulse amplitude and power) between the core and reflector (water) positioned is the layer of material absorping thermal neutrons. Thermophysical parameters of heterogeneous pulse reactor are studied. A possibility of the fuel element temperature growth by 1000 deg C is shown at 1Hz pulse frequency, at 3 mm fuel element diameter 20-25% water fraction in the core and 10 m/s coolant rate
