Curative treatment of carcinoma of the prostate with an association of external irradiation, iridium implant and lymphadenectomy
- 1. Centre Hospitalier, Lyon Sud-69310 Pierre-Benite (France)
Description
Curative treatment of carcinoma of the prostate may be performed either by surgery or by irradiation. Radiotherapy is usually done through external irradiation but may be performed also with interstitial curietherapy. Permanent implant with I 125 is the commonest technique. Iridium 192 is another alternative for curietherapy. In LYON, from November 1977 until December 1981, 43 patients with adenocarcinoma of the prostate were treated with an Iridium implant using a plastic tube after loading technique. This article intends to give the result of these series
