Crystal structure of LaFe5Ge3O15=LaFe5(GeO4)(Ge2O7)O4

Description
Structure of a new lanthanum-iron germanate LaFe5(GeO4)x(Ge2O7)O4 has been determined: a=18.040(4), b=17.012(4), c=7.591(1)A, V=2330.2(9) A3, Z=8, ρp=4.99 g/cm3, sp.gr. Cmca. The compound is noted for simultaneous entering of ortho- and diorthogroups of Ge into the frame and for classical set of coordination numbers (4,5,6) in one structure, typical for three-valent iron. Coordination polyhedron of La is nine-vertex species
