On nucleon size in nuclear matter
Description
The nucleon size in nuclear matter is investigated according to the chiral bag model. It is shown that the pion field strengthening caused by the pion mode softening in the nuclear matter leads to ∼ 3-5% decrease of the size of the domain where the quarks are locked. At the same time, the nucleon r.m.s. charge radius increases by <or approx. 15% for the proton and approximately twice for the neutron, as well due to the pion mode softening. The results of the calculations are compared with the experimental data
