EIR's contribution to nuclear waste management in Switzerland
Description
Most of the activities of the Federal Institute for Reactor Research (EIR, Wuerenlingen/AG) in the area of nuclear waste management are, besides optimisation of waste conditioning, aimed at assessing the long-term safety of radioactive waste repositories. Four projects are grouped around the central theme of safety analysis, the objective of these being to contribute to the understanding of safety-relevant mechanisms and to collect and evaluate the necessary data.
