Pulse radiolysis of liquid hydrogen chloride
Description
The method of microsecond pulse radiolysis has been used to show that in liquid hydrogen chloride a capture of an excess electron by way of solvation is possible. The life time of the solvated electron has been evaluated. Spectral characteristics of dichloride-anion have been established and its role in the mechanism of hydrogen chloride radiolysis has been elucidated. A short-lived particle has been detected having an absorption band with a maximum at 300 nm. It has been shown that this particle is formed as a result of interaction of solvated proton with electron
