Role Of Vitamin E Intake On Improving Immunological And Biochemical Parameters In Induced Liver Cirrhosis

Description
Thirty two male albino rats (180-200 gm) were arranged into 4 equal groups and used in this study to evaluate the protective role of vit. E against CCl4 toxicity. The CCl4 was given intraperitonealy to 3 groups at a dose of 0.1 mg/kg every other day for 10 days (5 doses). Before the introduction of CCl4 by three weeks, vit. E (25 mg/kg) was introduced orally to 2 groups 3 times/week where in one group, vit. E was administered with CCl4 .Blood picture, ferritin, glucose, insulin, urea, IgG, IgM and liver function tests were determined in serum after the rats were decapitated. The results denoted that vit. E was an efficient protective agent before and/or during CCl4 intake and it was more beneficial on liver function when administered before and during the chemical induction of toxicity.
