A 3 T asymmetric permanent magnet wiggler

Description

A high-field wiggler to be used as a synchrotron radiation source has been built. The field is asymmetric and made of two periods. The measured peak field reaches 3.13 T for a gap of 11 mm and 3.57 T for a gap of 6 mm. The measured vertical field versus longitudinal position, transverse position and magnetic gap are in good agreement with the computation. The tune shift induced by the wiggler on the ESRF lattice has been computed and found to be acceptable. The angular spectral flux produced by this wiggler together with the circular polarization rate has been computed for various directions of observation
