Outstanding issues for transuranic waste disposal at WIPP
Creators
- 1. Environmental Evaluation Group, Albuquerque, NM (United States)
Description
A number of outstanding issues need to be resolved before the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) can be considered to be ready to receive waste for permanent disposal. The issues relate both to an assessment of the long-term suitability of the project to isolate waste for 10,000 years, and to operational readiness to safely carry out the waste transportation, handling and emplacement activities
