Determination of alpha-emitting radionuclides in NPF water coolant using membranes impregnated with hydrated manganese dioxide

Description

Results of the studies on creating a rapid method of actinide determination (plutonium and americium, in particular) in water coolant of nuclear power generating facilities are presented. Porous reaction membranes impregnated with hydrated oxides of manganese, antimony and zirconium, were employed for actinide isolation. The lower limit of actinide detection, when the sample volume is 2.5 l and low-background alpha radiometer is employed, equals 0.037 Bq. The error of the measurements does not exceed 30% in the range of concentrations 0.37-3.7x105 Bq/l. 9 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab
