Breast cancer prophylaxis by primary mammography with mobile equipment final results and histology

In 2005 primary prophylaxis in Bulgaria included predominantly clinical exam. Practice and new rules of National Health Insurance required the following sequences: exam by GP, breast examination by surgeon or gynecologist who have to requite mammography. In such a case mammography stays as additional method. Clinical exam by a surgeon remains is leading one in the next campaigns. Mammography as used like a diagnostic tool only, in case of some findings. In 2005 The National Oncological Center in Sofia started the first prophylactic campaign for breast carcinoma by primary mammography (screening mammography). Program foresees mammography as first and only exam in asymptomatic women. Program lasted from June 2005 till November 2009.
