Metrological reliability of the calibration procedure for dosimeters used in mammography

The laboratory Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB - Germany established X-rays of references for calibration of dosimeters used in dosimetry in mammography, which are generated by X-ray tubes with tungsten anode and filtered with aluminum, molybdenum, rhodium silver and others. These reference radiations complement the qualities of the International Electrotechical Commission (IEC) number 61267 for calibration of dosimeters in mammography, since few calibration laboratories have an X-ray device with a molybdenum anode for dosimeter calibration. In this work, from the implantation of some reference radiations similar to those established by the PTB in the in the Dosimeter Calibration Laboratory (LCD) located at the Nuclear Technology Development Center (CDTN). The calibration procedure used in mammography was validated through calibrations of a Radcal 10X6-6m ionization chamber and a Radcal Accu-gold semiconductor dosimeter, model AGMS-M. The results indicated the metrological reliability of the procedure and evidenced the influence of the software configuration on the semiconductor dosimeter calibration coefficients. (author)
