High precision fusion excitation function measurement; what can we learn from them?

Description
Excitation functions for the reactions l54Sm + 16O, l86W + 16O, 144Sm + 16O and l44Sm + 17O have been measured at small energy intervals and with high precision. These excitation functions are sensitive to the nuclear structure of the interacting nuclei and this is most clearly demonstrated when they are displayed as barrier distributions. 20 refs., 9 figs
