Description

Na3AsO3S.12H2O, Mr=440.14, orthorhombic, P212121, a=9.220(1), b=12.831(2), c=13.906(3) A, V=1645.1 A3, Z=4, Dx=1.78 Mg m-3, λ(Mo Kα anti)=0.71073 A, μ=2.32 mm-1, F(000)=904, T=213 K, R=0.038 for 2043 unique observed reflections. Units of three face-sharing distorted [Na(OH2)6]+ octahedra are each connected by two common vertices into zigzag chains parallel to the c axis. These endless chains of composition [Na3(OH2)11]3+, discrete AsO3S3- anions and discrete H2O molecules, not corrdinated to Na+ cations, are linked via O-H...O and/or O-H...S hydrogen bonds. The title compounds [Na3(OH2)11][AsO3S].H2O is structurally closely related to the hydrate [Na3(OH2)11][AsO2S2]. (orig.)
