Measurement of X-ray and electron dose by means of solid state track detectors

  • 1. Kossuth Lajos Tudomanyegyetem, Debrecen (Hungary). Kiserleti Fizikai Tanszek

Description

T-Cellit /cellulose-acetate/ detector foils were irradiated by electrons of 1.7 MeV and doses of 1.5, 9.6 and 30 Mrad, and by X-rays having maximum energy of 60 KeV and doses of 1, 20 and 100 Mrad. Some of the foils were irradiated by α-particles of different energies. According to the experiments the T-Cellit is suitable for the measurement of doses higher than 1 Mrad. Measuring the Vsub(D)/Vsub(O) ratio /the ratio of the etching rate of the irradiated and the non-irradiated detector foil/ and using a given solvent, the accuracy of measurement is 1 Mrad for electrons and 3 Mrad for X-rays. Measuring the diameter of the trace of α-particles, electron doses higher than 1 Mrad and X-ray doses higher than 10 Mrad can be determined. (K.A.)
