Description

The qualitative dosimetric system obtained in our laboratory is based on the degradation of the polyvinyl chloride in a radiation field, the hydrochloric acid being released from the molecule. The system contains a pH indicator. Due to the variation of H+ ions concentration, the system changes its colour giving a qualitative information about irradiation for doses ranging from 0.5 to 50 kGy. The dye used in the experiments is Congo red. The system was tested for γ and e- radiations. The qualitative dosimetric system is intended to be used mainly at IRASM (The Multipurpose Irradiation Facility), this project being in progress. (author)
