Design a radiation detection system module using BG51 detector based on Arduino Uno microntroller with LoRa SX1276 wireless communication system on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)

Description

Radiation detection system using BG51 detector based on Arduino Uno microcontroller designed to monitor radiation around nuclear installations as a radiation disaster mitigation measure to ensure the security of nuclear facilities and surrounding communities using UAV devices. To ensure the performance of the detection module system using the BG51 detector based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller, a series of tests were carried out using a theoretical approach and standard radiation sources. Tests were carried out using experimental methods such as distance variation tests at certain intervals, BG51 detector stability tests, angle variation tests at certain and determined distances, and coordinate position reading tests using UAV devices. The results of the research show that the relationship between the radiation dose rate measured by the BG51 detector and theoretical calculations shows that the regression value is 0.9967 and the relationship with the distance interval to the Cs-137 radioactive source is 0.9033. A result close to 1 indicates good performance of the BG51 detector according to the inverse square law of distance. Detector stability calculated using the chi-square method yields a value of 3.944 in the acceptance range of 10.1 to 30.1. The deviation values from theory are relatively small, namely 4.263; 10.96; and 1.040 for distances of 5; 10; and 15 cm respectively, when measuring the radiation exposure rate of Cs-137 radioactive sources above 0.6 μSv/h. The detection system deviation values of 0.7071; 0.5403; and 0.3033 for distances of 5; 10; and 15 cm respectively indicate relatively large data fluctuations. This radiation detection system was successfully designed to monitor radiation around nuclear installations, contributing to increased safety of the facility and surrounding communities through its compact design, low power consumption and high radiation detection capabilities.
