Description
NRPB carries out calibrations of various types of radon and radon decay product measurement systems for its own purposes and for laboratories throughout Europe. There are currently two radon calibration facilities at NRPB: a 43 m3 radon chamber and the Fast Radon Exposure Device (FRED), a sealed steel drum. The radon chamber is used for active radon detection systems and the calibration of large numbers of passive detectors. Fred has a high radon concentration and is used to calibrate small numbers of passive radon gas detectors in a short period. (Author)
