Description

The role of a physics unit in a large radiotherapy unit in a large radiotherapy department is discussed. The preparation of patient shells by moulding and general radiation treatment planning are described. The use of linear accelerators in treatment is compared and contrasted to 60Co units. The response and advantages/disadvantages of different linac energies are examined. Finally the regular performance checks on therapy equipment resulting from various Codes of Practice are detailed.
