Extraction behavior of uranium (VI) from dilute nitric acid medium using diglycolamic acid impregnated ADS-400 resin

Description
The extraction of uranium at trace level assumes significance in nuclear accounting in nuclear industry and with respect to its environmental impact. However, the extraction of U (VI) by molecules which have extractable functional groups impregnated on to solid support is better choice for the extraction point of view. In this study, bis (2- ethyl hexyl) diglycolamic acid (HDEHDGA) was impregnated on to Tulsion ADS-400 resin. The result indicated that the distribution ratio value of U(VI) was increased steadily as function of pH. This is due to the increase in the displacement of H+ ions from the extractants and uranium ions are attached with the extractants. Maximum distribution ratio value of ~15000 was obtained at pH 6. This study shows that this resin can be effectively utilized for the extraction and pre concentration of uranium from the dilute solution with less acidty
