Inferring seawater temperature in shallow-water environments of the Vienna Basin during the Late Badenian on the basis of bivalves and foraminifers

The aim of this work was to determine and interpret the temperature of the shallow-water sea in the area of the Vienna basin during the Late Badenian period on the basis of bivalves and foraminifers. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part of work describes the geology, biozonation of the investigated environment and the localization of the finding site of the fossilized bivalve shellfish (Glycymeris pilosa deshayesi). Temperature changes were described during the Miocene period in the Central Paratethys. Onwards in the theoretical part, the methods are characterized in use to interpretation of sea paleotemperature, as geochemical and sclerochronological methods. The practical part was focused mainly on the application of the above methods and the calculation of temperature and subseqent interpretation of the paleoenvironment of the Borsky Mikulas site.
