Hypertrophy induction of the left lobe of the liver after right hepatic yttrium-90 radioembolisation compared to portal vein embolisation

This study includes the evaluation of hypertrophy induction of the left hepatic lobe after two different embolisation procedures in the right hepatic lobe: portal vein embolisation and transarterial yttrium-90 radioembolisation. A matched-pair analysis of a patient collective after yttrium-90 radioembolisation of right hepatic liver malignancies with patients after preoperative portal vein embolisation was performed. In 26 complete pairs, an increase in volume of the left lobe of the liver was shown after yttrium-90 radioembolisation, although this was lower than after portal vein embolisation.

Abstract (German)

Die vorliegende Arbeit beinhaltet die Evaluation der Hypertrophieinduktion des linken Leberlappens nach zwei verschiedenen Embolisationsverfahren im rechten Leberlappen: der Pfortaderembolisation und der transarteriellen Yttrium-90-Radioembolisation. Zur Überprüfung erfolgte eine Matched-Pair-Analyse von einem Patientenkollektiv nach Yttrium-90-Radioembolisation von rechtshepatischen Lebermalignomen mit Patienten nach präoperativer Pfortaderembolisation. Bei 26 vollständigen Paaren konnte nach Yttrium-90-Radioembolisation ein Volumenzuwachs des linken Leberlappens gezeigt werden, welcher jedoch geringer ausfällt als nach Pfortaderembolisation.
