Description

The study on the gantry radiation facility parameters, which contains superconducting magnets, is carried out with the purpose of applying the carbon ion beams of the JINR Nuclotron accelerating complex in the branch of radiation oncology. This is associated with a superconducting synchrotron ands serves the significant decreasing the facility weight and dimensions and also required experimental areas. It is shown that developing the magnets, having superconducting windings, manufactured by the JINR technology on the basis of a tubular cable with two-phase helium will allow to develop a compact and economical facility, meeting the aims of modern medicine

Abstract (Russian)

Для применения пучков ионов углерода ускорительного комплекса Нуклотрон ОИЯИ в области радиационной онкологии проведено исследование параметров облучательной установки гантри, содержащей сверхпроводящие магниты. Это сочетается со сверхпроводящим синхротроном и служит значительному снижению веса и габаритов установки, а также требуемых экспериментальных площадей. Разработка магнитов, имеющих сверхпроводящие обмотки, выполненные по технологии ОИЯИ на основе трубчатого кабеля с двухфазным гелием, позволит создать компактную и экономичную установку, отвечающую целям современной медицины
