Description
A simple procedure is presented for extracting a new model-insensitive, inelastic strength factor A/sub L/, for Tassie-like nuclear excitations directly from the data. A/sub L/, a measure of the coupling strength at large momentum transfer, is to be contrasted with the low-momentum transfer, B(EL). A/sub L/ is extracted for the 3- (2.61) and 5- (3.2) states in 208Pb and the 2+ (1.3) state in 60Ni, showing that these excitations are Tassie-like and that for the 3- state A/sub L/ is projectile independent
