Domestic and international district energy success stories
Description
Fortum is a leading Nordic energy company that is increasingly focusing on the provision of heat supply from waste energy and renewables. This power point presentation gave an outline of Fortum's involvement in district energy projects in Sweden. Details of Fortum's heating distribution, power and electricity sales were presented, as well as a chart of share performance to 2006. A chart of Swedish electricity production from 1970 to 2003 was provided, in addition to energy input sources for district heating from 1970-2003. Details of the Hammarby eco-cycle model were presented, as well as issues concerning the use of bio-gas for stoves and vehicles. An outline of the Hammarby heat plant was presented, with details of heat pumps, bio-oil boilers, electric boilers, and heat production data. Issues concerning district cooling for commercial customers were reviewed. A bio-fuel district energy plant in Stockholm was discussed, as well as issues concerning the transportation of biofuel by sea and rail. Electric energy savings due to the use of district cooling were evaluated. Details of new gas works facilities in Hjorthagen were presented, as well as details of a proposed terminal in Nynashamn which will interact with a natural gas system. tabs., figs
