Search for ΛΛ hypernuclei in E885 at BNL
Description
In analysis of the quasi-free cascade production on carbon an upper limit on the decay channel (Ξ-,12C)atom → ΛΛ12B + n was set. Detecting a neutron peak would be strong evidence for the existence of double-Λ hypernuclei. A 90% C.L. upper limit of 7% over a range of neutron kinetic energy 5-55 MeV was obtained. (orig.)
