Radiological environmental effects of operation of Mochovce reactor units 1 and 2 during 2007-2016

  • 1. VÚJE Trnava, Trnava (Slovakia)

Description

The radiological effects of the NPP operation on the environment were assessed mainly based on the individual effective doses (IEDs) to the public in the NPP surroundings, determined by using data on liquid and gaseous radioactive discharges from the NPPs. The amounts of artificial radionuclides in specific environmental components and in food chain elements in the NPP surroundings and their long-term trends were also evaluated. The objectives and methodology of the evaluation are outlined. The radioactive discharge monitoring results, the calculated IEDs for individuals from the critical group of inhabitants in the NPP surroundings as well as the radioactivity level trends in selected environmental components in the NPP surroundings over the 2007- 2017 period are presented. The conclusions of the safety review and recommendations for further monitoring improvements are outlined.
