Stochastic hydrodynamic theory of D-T fusion systems
Description
In this paper the authors propose a new methodology to obtain kinetic equations for deuterium-tritium (D-Y) fusion plasmas based on the master equation (ME) approach of Brenig and Van der Broeck. The reason for doing this is that in the study of far-from-equilibrium hydrodynamic fluctuations, and ME approach seems to be the natural and necessary method of describing such fluctuations. The main goals of this paper are (a) to obtain the kinetic equations for the expected phase-space ion densities and the equal time correlation and covariance functions in a D-T fusion plasma using this methodology and (b) to deduce the multi-fluid magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations, obtaining expressions for the transport parameters and for the energy and momentum transfer among different species. The interest of this last point is that the deduction of the MHD equations from kinetic stochastic theories provides not only a knowledge of the limits of validity of such equations but also a means of calculating from first principles the values of the hydrodynamic transport coefficients
