Neutron spectroscopy of 0.6 meV crystal field transitions in doped superconductors

Description
Transitions between the low lying crystal field states of Tb3+ and Pr3+ substituted for La in the superconductors LaAl2, LaAg, and LaSn3 have been observed by inelastic neutron scattering. Level separations of less than 1 meV and linewidths could be measured for concentrations as small as 2 mole %. (author)
