Description

A summary is presented of CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project and its experimental program. It will be based on the following elements: High energy high luminosity proton-proton collisions; Heavy ion collisions with centre-of-mass energies in the Pb-Pb collisions as high as 1260 TeV at luminosities of the order of 1028 cm-2s-1; beauty and neutrino experiments using high-energy proton beam; electron-proton collisions by colliding LEP electron beam with LHC proton beam.
