Biphasic enteroclysis in Crohn disease

Retrospectively, the authors analyzed 254 enteroclysis examinations in proven Crohn disease to evaluate the contribution of barium-repletion studies and air double- contrast studies. The granularity of mucosa was visualized in 12.4% of the cases on the repletion films and in 28.2% of the cases on double-contrast films; the aphthoid ulcers, in 23.9% and in 45.8%, respectively; the longitudinal ulcers, in 22.8% and 19.4%; stenoses, in 14.2% and 9.2%; narrowing, in 37.4% and 57.6% fistulae, in 8.1% and 15.3%, and mesenteric signs, in 49.5% and 36.6%. Both studies were necessary to accurately evaluate a patient with Crohn disease
