Multiple scattering corrections to measurements of stopping power for slow ions

  • 1. Dundee Univ. (UK). Dept. of Medical Biophysics

Description

Multiple scattering can constitute an important source of error in the experimental measurement of stopping power due to the enhancement of the energy loss even in thin films. A general appraisal has been made of the relevance and reliability of available multiple scattering theory for fast charged particles with the Born parameter α<1 and for slow particles (α>1)
